September Racing & "My" Swimmers

Above is a photo of my swim crew on a late summer day in Septemeber. Working this group for almost four years now, they provide me with great motivation and they are a treat to work with. Seeing their swimming and friendships evolve it has been inspirational and some of the changes i'd like to make with my own coaching and events. You can see more on that down below!
Just above that photo is Tom Anderson on the way to winning his age group at the Big Kahuna Half Ironman.

As the season winds down some people still have it rolling and some just finished up their season on great notes! Out on the circuit:

Amanda Erwin ... has stormed back on to the race scene by winning the womens race at the Midwest Meltdown Sprint Triathlon (she was actually 3rd OVERALL) and just won her age group (6th overall including pros) at the classic Santa Cruz Sentinel this past weekend. Great to have you back Amanda!

-Tom Anderson ... a couple blog entries ago we mentioned that Tom might nail one at The Big Kahuna. Well, Tom did just that! A massive age group win was all Tom's as he executed a brilliant race, nailed his nutrition plan after doing some great training leading into the event. Nice way to end the season Tom.

- Tom Ellefson ... had nice race at the classic season ending race for many, The Ukiah Triathlon. Well done Tom!

-Jamie Lau ... followed up his first Half Ironman race with a new Half Ironman PB at The Big Kahuna. Great year Jamie!

-Layne Scoggins ... in the middle of his preparations for Ironman Florida, Layne put together a PB performance at The Big Kahuna. Things are looking good for Layne at IMF ;)

-Odessa Schexnaydre ... had a blast at The Ukiah Triathlon and stepped on to the podium for third place in her Age Group. Giddy Up O

Phil Johnson ... capped off his season by stepping on to the podium at The Ukiah Triathlon. Well done Phil!

Not much racing left this year but we have some big ones at Xterra in Tahoe, US Open in Dallas, Hawaii Ironman, Ironman Florida, and the Ironman 70.3 World Champs.

Also, watch this space and my website for upcoming events and changes for the 2008 program. For starters, i'll be adding some drop in swim coaching on a variety of Sunday evenings, i'm looking at opening up some run form and pacing sessions, some organized group workouts, and of course we'll have our Winter Training Camp again in February!

More soon ... DL
