Fall season seems to be the time that I end up on the road and today marks the start of a trip to Panama City Beach, Fl. for Ironman Florida. My fiance' Jen and couple other clients (Layne Scoggins and Cheryl Collins) will be racing this coming Saturday. Unfortunately Jen ran into some bad luck and had some early signs of bronchitis that are now passing. We'll do all the correct things to make sure she starts in the best health possible. The good thing is she has been able to do some short sessions to start waking the body back up. Her training has been great and i know the difference 4-5 days can make. Should be a good trip with my sister Amy, Bob Collins and Caity Johnson in tow!
When i return i have some "articles" that i want to put together and load up here. I had mentioned a month or so ago that i had something to write about a friend and older age group athlete that i did a little training ... this is legendary stuff as you will see! After that i'll have a 2-3 part series that will address the "Anatomy of a Comeback". The attempted comeback in this article doesn't relate to racing (just yet) ... you'll see when i get rolling on the article! I'm stating these ideas so that it holds me to writing ;)
Finally ... a quick racing update from the Tulsa Run. The Tulsa Run (15k) is a very popular, long standing race on the calendar that likely starts 5000 people!
Dana Chance ... in the middle of her preps for Ironman 70.3 World Championship she pulled off a nice PR! Almost even splits for all 5k's, an Age Group win and 19th OVERALL FEMALE!
Chuck Sloan ... kept it rolling through the Tulsa Run and dropped in for 4th OVERALL and an Age Group win to cap off his season. Remember this is coming off triathlon training against some of the best pure runners. Chuck can still roll it!
The photo above is Chuck on his way to a 4th place at the Tulsa Run. Thanks to Rob Chance for the photo ... for some reason there were no pics of Dana. (or maybe no photos that made it through Dana's screening process!)
Until next week! DL
